Cloud remembered the cold self-loathing he felt as he saw Nibelheim burn; how could he be such a fool? He remembered the gnawing rage driving him to climb up the mountains, to the reactor, to Sephiroth, to soundlessly stab him, twist the sword, take his life like he took everything away from him – family, home, and dreams… all save for a single wish.
“I want to become strong, just like Sephiroth.”
He realized his childhood wish was granted within the depths of the Northern Crater, staring up at Sephiroth’s bloodied, shocked face.
He could’ve laughed; he should’ve been more specific.
