Holy Maiden / Words Frozen by Snow / Human Persistence
Title: Holy Maiden
Characters/Pairings: Aeris, Vincent
Rating: G
Team: Avalanche
Word Count: 100
Author's Notes: All three of these are a continuation of this 'Aeris Lives AU' ficlet over on my DW.
They discovered that Aeris' eyes glowed now, not Mako-shine but a gentle moonbeam luminescence. That flowers bloomed wherever she stepped. And when they were yet again beset by monsters, they discovered that Aeris' limit break had become something bright and destructive.
Even Aeris was a little frightened of herself after that, but none of them were about to leave her alone, even Cloud, who'd kept his distance from her since the Temple of the Ancients. Only Vincent, though - fellow god/monster/vessel - dared to keep her company in her grief the morning they discovered the last home of Professors Gast and Ifalna.
Title: Words Frozen by Snow
Characters/Pairings: Aeris, Cloud
Rating: G
Team: Avalanche
Word Count: 100
"Don't go," Aeris whispers at the foot of Gaea's Cliff.
It's night, it's bitterly cold, and Cloud knows neither of them should be out here, but he can't sleep with Sephiroth so close and maybe she can't either. "I'm not going anywhere," he says, and Aeris shakes her head.
"I mean - don't go after Sephiroth. Stay here and wait for me."
I can't do that. "I'm not going to do that," Cloud protests. "He destroyed my town and tried to kill you! I'll never forgive Sephiroth."
"Oh, Cloud," she whispers, shivering, the light in her eyes wavering from unshed tears.
Title: Human Persistence
Characters/Pairings: Aeris, Tifa
Rating: G
Team: Avalanche
Word Count: 100
"You knew all along, didn't you?"
Aeris doesn't turn from the Highwind's railing. "Only since - Holy," she admits. "I just - if I tried to get the Jenova out of him I might've killed him. Tifa, please don't hate me."
For a moment, with Meteor glowing in the sky, Tifa is tempted. "...I knew too. I've been avoiding it since Midgar," she admits, and joins Aeris at the railing. Clouds sail by below them; the wind whips Aeris's hair back. She almost looks normal like this.
"I'm not giving up on Cloud," Tifa says, and Aeris' lips curve, an unwilling smile.
