I missed the last prompt by 12 hours, so here it is now for 'past prompts 3'. (We could've had the trophy, Turks!)

And I just want to say respect to Yohjideraged for faithfully posting prompts even though there's is very little to no reply sometimes. d^_^b I wouldn't have been able to do that.

Title: Average Joe
Prompt: Heavenly virtues: humility / Past prompts 3
Character: Veld, Tseng
Series: OGC
Team: Turks
Rating: G
Word count: 100

Note: The name ‘Tseng’ is the Chinese equivalent of ‘John’ and its variants.

A man in a dark suit towered above him as he sat kneeling in the mud. A gun hovered before his eyes.

“What’s your name?”

From fading memories echoed the sound of his long name, followed by the endless list of titles, spoken with worship and respect. He recalled the giant halls the words had echoed through, and the voices of his family.

He remembered the singing of blades, the spill of blood and screams in the air. After, a blur of fire, sea and foreign voices.

Emperors were gods, but died like any average Joe.

He looked up. “Tseng.”

Title: A Tower of Ideas
Characters/Pairings: Rufus
Team: Turks
Rating: G
Word Count: 100
Series: OGC

Rufus was always told that all Father had started with was a suitcase of clothes and his wits. And look at him now, his foundations are made from ideas and explosive powder, and each tier of his massive tower is made from ideas: science, engineering, genetics and myths.

Shin-ra stock never turn down an idea, and look at us now, just moments away from finding the Ancients and making our spire reach up to the moon.

And yet Rufus knew, and bitter it was when it happened, that Meteors and madness revealed the fragile foundation of bones, salt and sand.

Title: Jessie Want Big Boom
Characters/Pairings: Jessie, Wedge
Team: Avalanche
Rating: G
Word Count: 100
Series: original game

"Okay. The area is secure?"

Wedge shifted nervously. "Yeah, but- Jessie, I don't know about this. What if a Shinra patrol sees?"

Jessie scoffed. "Then they won't be able to say we didn't give them fair warning." She took a deep breath and yelled, "Fire in the hole!" She pressed the trigger and covered her ears, anticipating a nice big blast.

The bomb, in the middle of a clear space in the scrapyard, emitted a sad pfut of smoke and a few sparks.

Wedge blinked. "That was... anticlimactic."

Jessie grinned ruefully, shrugging. "Oh well. It keeps me humble, you know?"

Title: Who You Are
Character: Barret
Rating/Type: T
Team: Avalanche
Word Count: 100

He ain't no leader.

There'd been a time he'd known that down to his bones. Back then he'd been happy helpin' the village, workin' to feed his family and taking care of everyone. Barret Wallace had been a hard worker, a loving husband, a good man... but not a leader, never that.

Back then, he hadn't cared. It wasn't 'til now, on the deck of that ship, that the words were hard to say. He'd stepped up 'cuz he'd had to, and he'd lied to himself for years. But in the end, he figures, you've gotta be who you are.

Title: The Road of Self-Discovery
Characters/Pairings: Cloud
Team: Turks
Rating: G
Word Count: 100
Series: post-game, pre-Advent Children
Author's Notes: Honestly, I think Cloud being emo is like the Planet running a fever; symptom of Bad Things.

Cloud enjoyed the long hours between stops, running messages town to town. It meant, among other things, not having to hang around and answer questions about himself, or Sephiroth, or Meteor. Or the crater where they'd all converged.

Most people didn't understand. He hadn't, in the end, fought Sephiroth to save the world, or be a hero, or any of that. He'd just wanted his own mind back, in his own body, and the chance to find out ...who he was, really, when not trying to live up to outside standards.

Reeve seemed to be the only one that understood.

The Turks showed their kindness last week for 10 points and the trophy.

This week's prompt is #137 - Heavenly Virtues: Humility

The antithesis of pride, humility is the quality of being modest, reverential, politely submissive, and/or self-abasing, and never being arrogant, contemptuous, or rude. Humility, in various interpretations, is widely seen as a virtue in many religious and philosophical traditions, being connected with notions of transcendent unity with the universe or the divine, and of egolessness. In his book “The Heart of Virtue,” Donald DeMarco offers this interpretation: “The humble person makes a realistic assessment of who he is and puts that unillusioned judgment into practice. He does not judge himself to be smaller or larger than he really is. In so doing he avoids despair as well as pride. Consequently, the humble person enjoys the freedom to be who he is.”

Can a self-aware robotic cat show humility? Does Genesis even acknowledge the word? Is there such a thing as a humble Turk, and if so, who might it be? Does Rufus know the difference between a sincerely humble aide and a sycophant – and would he care? Did the failure of the space program teach Cid a lesson in humility, or did it just piss him off?

Whoever, however – show us humility in 100 words.
