--

It has been three hours and forty-three minutes.

There are still roughly four hours and seventeen to go before they arrive in Gwongnaam.

For the last three hours of that three hours and now forty-four minutes, Genesis has been reading. This would be fine, were the man reading silently. Or at the very least, not reading the same gods bedamned passages over and over.

It has now been three hours and forty-five minutes. There are four hours and fifteen long minutes to go, and Sephiroth is very, very certain he will feel every last one of them.

Oh gods. If this is what Sephiroth had to deal with prior to Nibelheim, I'm not surprised Genesis reappearing was a trigger to extreme over-reaction. Particularly if the phrase Gen came out with in the reactor (and I'm sure he did come out with at least one, it's just been a while since I played the game) was the one he was focussing on in this particular journey.

Hojo was more evil than he thought when he didn't give Sephiroth a normal upbringing. Any kid not subjected to an upbringing in a lab at least knows how to retaliate against something which is both boring and annoying with something equally boring and annoying in response. I'm sure Genesis would have shut up very quickly after a few dozen verses of The Song That Gets on Everybody's Nerves or The Song That Never Ends, or even Ninety-Nine Bottles of Beer On The Wall (sung a quarter-tone flat for extra annoyance value).

It definitely would have helped to have Angeal there. Angeal was always the one who could tell Genesis when Gen was being an irritating little shit and make Gen listen. Angeal is probably the only person who could get away with telling Gen that he's boring the pants off everyone else in the transport, too.
