PROMPT #25 - DEADLY SIN: GREED

This week, the Turks are so green with envy they're practically radioactive! They claim this week's trophy with 40 shiny, shiny points. 10 points nets AVALANCHE a lovely shade of puce. SOLDIER? They're way too laid-back to play the envy game. ;)
This week's prompt is #25 - Deadly Sin: Greed
Greed's a tricky one. It's sometimes hard to sort out where the other sins end and this one begins. From Wikipedia's article on the Seven deadly sins (quite an interesting read, as the list has changed much through time): "Greed(Latin, avaritia), also known as avarice or covetousness, is, like lust and gluttony, a sin of excess. However, greed (as seen by the church) is applied to a very excessive or rapacious desire and pursuit of wealth, status, and power. ... "Avarice" is more of a blanket term that can describe many other examples of greedy behavior. These include disloyalty, deliberate betrayal, or treason, especially for personal gain, for example through bribery. Scavenging and hoarding of materials or objects, theft and robbery, especially by means of violence, trickery, or manipulation of authority are all actions that may be inspired by greed. Such misdeeds can include simony, where one profits from soliciting goods within the actual confines of a church."
When is enough enough? For Shinra (any of 'em), is there satisfaction to be had without owning the entire world? Must Azul forge himself into the most powerful warrior in existence, even though the treatments might kill him? What might Aerith do if her flower sales make her a rich lady? And what does Yuffie plan to do with all her hoarded (stolen!) materia, anyway?
As for betrayal, one never has to look much further than the Science Department: How many lives will Hojo sacrifice to increase his own position?
This week is all about the dark side of want. Give me cruel avarice, but don't get greedy for words - you only get 100, as always.
