Somehow, Nanaki had thought they'd want to come home with him.
Cosmo Canyon would have welcomed every one of them as heroes. They could have rested, healed, made their peace among the red canyons of Nanaki's homeland.
But Barret had run to Corel with Marlene, Vincent had disappeared, Cloud had wandered off to mourn and Tifa had followed Cloud. Nanaki, directionless, had asked Cid for a lift home. The Cosmonauts had welcomed Nanaki home, and sat with him around the Candle to listen to his stories.
He was grateful, but it wasn't the same without his friends - nor without Grandpa.
