Tempting to look upon the red Materia as nothing more than a tool, a means of destroying any enemy, a monster to unleash upon other monsters, but Cloud looked into the eyes of Ifrit as the beast appeared from the corona of magic that he had called, and a fierce intelligence looked back at him, weighing him, judging him, as if not as inured to obedience as Cloud had been taught to expect. He nodded once, and Ifrit acknowledged him, nodding in return before dashing forward to bring death to the enemy in the form of great arcs of flame.
