Marlene was slow to make up her mind about Tifa, and for her part Tifa gave the girl her space. She'd never been bad with kids, historically- but that had been another life, another Tifa. The new Tifa was a raw nerve, a warrior and a trauma victim, and she didn't know that Tifa well enough to trust her.

Then one day Marlene hopefully held up a red plastic PHS to her.

Tifa turned a baffled look Barret's way; he silently gestured 'go on'. Tifa tentatively took the phone and held it to her ear as Marlene beamed approvingly.

"...hello?"
