He had to train harder. Everything had to be perfect. He had to be perfect. He wasn't, not yet. But he would put in the hours. He would train day and night. He began to stay long after the others had gone. He pushed himself beyond all limits, scrutinizing his form in the mirrors. He was good enough. He'd show them all.
But the lights went out. His dark reflection glared at him from the glass. Cloud turned away. His reflection did not.
Cloud ran.
"You'll never be me, Spike," the mirror image hissed after him. "You'll never be me."
